He is Secretary General of the Muslim Council of Elders and the Higher Committee of Human Fraternity.

He is a member of the Al Azhar Centre for Interreligious Dialogue and co-president of the Religions for Peace Organisation. He was an advisor to the Grand Imam of Al Azhar, Ahmed Al-Tayeb.
