Born in the GDR, from the age of 16 she became involved in non-violent Christian resistance in East Germany. On 3 October 1989, at the age of 25, she started a fasting and prayer movement in the Protestant Church of Gethsemane in East Berlin until the fall of the Berlin Wall on 9 November 1989. A Protestant theologian, she taught Christian pedagogy for several years in various institutes. Today she is the Protestant pastor of the university pastorate in Magdeburg.
