He has been Grand Mufti of Bosnia-Herzegovina since 2012 after having been Mufti of Tuzla during the Bosnian war years. He studied in Sarajevo and Al-Azhar in Cairo. He has been particularly committed to cooperation with other religious communities and to civil coexistence among Bosnians. He has been involved in numerous projects for the reconstruction of religious sites and aid to displaced persons.
