Since youth he followed his family religious vocation becoming imam. He is chief of Ashafa Central Mosk of Kaduna, a Nigerian mosque originally founded by his family.
Together with Pastor James Wuye he started the "Interfaith Mediation Centre", which successfully solved several conflicts occurring in Nigeria. He is the Executive Director of the Centre. He is also responsible for inter-religious dialogue between Muslims and Christians in northern Nigeria.
He is co-author of the famous book " The Imam and the Pastor: Responding to Conflict". In Nigeria, his figure and his example has become a reference for those who, following his example, have abandoned their weapons and have taken the path of dialogue and peaceful coexistence.
Together with Pastor Wuye he received the Prize of the Chirac Foundation for Peace in 2009.
