It is the "Ship of Peace" by Grimaldi Lines, started from Civitavecchia (Rome) carrying 600 participants in the World Summit for Peace "Living in a time of crisis. Family of peoples, family of God" organized by the Community of Sant'Egidio and the Archdiocese of Barcelona. The ship - as reported by Alberto Quattrucci, of the Community of Sant'Egidio, while greeting the first ones landing - "is multicolored, with immigrants from different continents, religions and cultures, but also from different generations, young and old, children and families from every corner of the world ".
Barcelona is the city that hosts this year's the International World Meeting Peoples and Religions, which since 1987 carries forward the spirit of Assisi following the historic meeting of Pope John Paul II with the leaders of Great World Religions.
Barcelona is also the laboratory of a proposed rehabilation of the old town center which focuses on integration of immigrants.
