Leader of CSU (Christian-Socialist Union), one of the most important parties of Bavaria. Since 2008 he is the Prime Minister of Bavaria. He has served as Federal Minister for Health and Social Security from 1992 to 1998; and as Federal Minister of Food, Agriculture and Consumer Protection from 2005 to 2008. As Minister President he guides the first coalition government in Bavaria since 1962.
