Since 2014, he has been director of the Churches' Commission on International Affairs (CCIA) of the World Council of Churches (WCC) and program officer of the Council for Peace, Disarmament and Human Rights.
A lawyer, he has long experience representing church organizations in the international political arena.
He was for more than 12 years Assistant Secretary General for International Affairs and Human Rights of the Lutheran World Federation (LWF) and for four years Executive Director of the Ecumenical Advocacy Alliance (EAA).
At the Geneva headquarters of the United Nations from 2000 to 2008, he was Chair of the Special Committee of NGOs on Human Rights and later a member of the UN International Working Group on HIV-related Travel Restrictions.
