After studies in the UK and Germany and a doctorate in Islamic studies, he was a senior executive in the Ministry of Religious Affairs of the Sultanate of Oman, a ministry of which he has been Minister since 2022. As a scholar, he has worked on the origin of Islam and countering the spread of extremist ideas in the Persian Gulf region.
