He is a Professor of French and of Philosophy, and the director of Institute of African Studies at Columbia University. He graduated from the École Normale Supérieure and earned his Doctorat d’État in philosophy at the Sorbonne. Dr. Diagne's research spans various fields, including the history of philosophy, Islamic philosophy, African philosophy and literature.
