Akyaa Pobee Martha Ama

A career diplomat since 1989, she has held various positions at the Ghanaian Foreign Ministry and its representations in Moscow, Geneva, Tel Aviv, Washington and Pretoria.
She was Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the Republic of Ghana to the United Nations, the first woman to hold this position. In that position, she has held several special assignments.
In 2021 she was appointed by the United Nations as Undersecretary for Africa in the Department of Political and Peacebuilding Affairs and Peace Operations.
