A French historian, he is a specialist in religious history and contemporary Christianity. He was among the organisers of the 2005 edition of the International Meetings of Men and Religions held in Lyon. Since 2020 he has chaired the Amitié Judéo-Chrétienne de France, which works to ensure that ‘knowledge, understanding, respect and friendship replace age-old misunderstandings and traditions of hostility’.
