At Sant'Egidio since 1975, he has taken part in numerous Community of Sant'Egidio peace initiatives around the world. Advisor to the Minister of International Cooperation and Integration from 2012 to 2013, he then held the position of Undersecretary for Italian Foreign Affairs and then Vice-Minister until 2018. A university lecturer, he writes on poverty, forgotten wars and peace-keeping actors for various Italian and European media.
