He was pastor and deacon in Nurnberg. In 2009 he became regional bishop of the Lutheran Church of Bavaria in the region of Ansbach-Würzburg. He is prior of the protestant convent of Heilsbronn and member of the Liturgical Commission of VELKD (United Evangelical Lutheran Church of Germany)
